The property includes the residence circa 1770, which served for generations as a private home, a two-story carriage house; an adjoining terrace; a lovely white gazebo, two porches, and inviting garden areas where guests can gather or dine under canopy. In warm weather, a tent is available for receptions, dining and dancing. In cooler months, fireplaces in the residence create a welcoming atmosphere.

Ron Rust and his wife Judy Kozacik are the owners of the historic Birkby House. They purchased the property in 1998 and made extensive renovations including the addition of air-conditioning, restoration of six fireplaces, and decoration of all the rooms. Judy, responsible for the interior design, intended to make the property a model of a federal style in-town residence in the early 1800’s, a place that was cheerful and pleasing for all their guests.

The owners are residents of the historic district, living in another federal-style property dating from 1790 which they also renovated.

The House is conveniently located, easy to drive to, with parking available close by.
