Carriage House

The Carriage House is where Thomas Birkby and his family, believed to be the last coach maker on the East Coast, practiced their trade until 1903. The Birkbys manufactured carriages, coaches and buggies on the second floor and kept their horses on the ground floor. Today the Carriage House has been completely refurbished and is a self-contained meeting and event facility.

The ground floor contains a caterer’s kitchen and ample bathroom facilities for meetings. These facilities also serve the needs of guests attending banquets and receptions in the gardens. The upstairs meeting room accommodates up to 60 guests for a small conference or dinner party. The room has a ten foot high ceiling which is ideal for films and presentations. The upstairs room is also an excellent location for an indoor wedding ceremony.

The upper level of the Carriage House is not handicapped accessible.
